Well, I must admit that I liken it to developing against Standard Edition, or MySQL, or some other product - the feature set is a bit different and you need to bear that in mind. While that can be frustrating, I consider it something that is known up-front. I don&#039;t see much of &#034;That thing is gone&#034;, and that even deprecated items don&#039;t disappear for a very long time, for fear that someone&#039;s code might break.

There&#039;s always WASD Federation to can help you with scaling or moving to a VM install of SQL hosted in Azure, but Microsoft&#039;s knack for &#034;Whoops, that thing you&#039;re using, yeah that&#039;s gone. Sorry!&#034; or lack of certificate management that causes outages is annoying.]]></description>
